WACCBIP–DAAD MPhil Scholarship in Infectious Disease Biology 2027
DAAD
DAAD and the University of Ghana’s WACCBIP invite Sub-Saharan African graduates to apply for 2027 MPhil scholarships in Molecular Cell Biology of Infectious Diseases. The award includes a monthly stipend and specified study support. DAAD portal deadline: 12 November 2026.
The 2027 WACCBIP–DAAD In-Country/In-Region award supports the MPhil in Molecular Cell Biology of Infectious Diseases at the West African Centre for Cell Biology of Infectious Pathogens, University of Ghana, Legon, Accra. DAAD’s official call lists up to three in-country and eight in-region scholarships, subject to funding. The usual award period is the standard programme duration, up to 24 months.
Applicants must be nationals or permanent residents of a Sub-Saharan African country. They need a three- or four-year bachelor’s degree or equivalent with at least Second Class Upper Division or equivalent, awarded no more than six years before application, plus proficiency in the language of instruction. DAAD especially encourages women, recognised refugees and applicants from marginalised regions or groups. Previous recipients of a DAAD master’s scholarship are ineligible for another DAAD master’s award.
The official call lists tuition support, a monthly stipend of €400 for in-country or €500 for in-region scholars, an annual €460 study and research allowance, and up to €400 for thesis publication. In-region scholars also receive a travel allowance and health insurance under the call. Some institutional charges may not be covered, and rates can change.
Apply through the DAAD portal by 12 November 2026. A separate admission application to WACCBIP is also required; WACCBIP sets its own admission deadline, so check the host institution promptly. Read the full official call for the document list and programme-specific requirements before submission.
