Transparency and accountability

Editorial and corrections policy

This policy explains how Prime Scholarship Alerts selects sources, distinguishes verified facts from unknown information, uses automation, updates deadlines and responds to corrections. It applies to scholarship listings, provider pages, search collections and application guidance.

1. Source hierarchy

We prefer the current official scholarship, university, government, foundation, research-project or funder page. A provider document or application portal can support details when its ownership is clear. Reputable secondary sources can help discovery but do not override the provider. Search snippets, copied posts and social messages are not sufficient final evidence by themselves.

2. Publication criteria

A listing should identify a provider or programme, describe a genuine funding or research opportunity and give applicants enough information to decide whether to inspect the official source. We avoid publishing unsupported guarantees, invented funding values, false “fully funded” labels or eligibility claims that cannot be traced to the source.

When a field is unclear, the record should say “not stated,” “check provider details” or an equivalent limitation. Uncertainty is preferable to a confident but unsupported claim.

3. Automation and human responsibility

Automated tools may discover public opportunities, extract structured fields, normalise dates, flag duplicates or clean formatting. Automation does not make a source authoritative. Records can be held for review, corrected, unpublished or expired when validation is incomplete. Editorial responsibility remains with Prime Scholarship Alerts.

4. Funding, eligibility and deadline language

“Fully funded” is used only when the source supports the relevant coverage; applicants must still check tuition, fees, stipend, insurance, travel, duration and exclusions. Eligibility summaries do not replace the full rules. A deadline may be exact, rolling, unknown or closed, and the page should make that status clear.

5. Closed and recurring opportunities

A closed page may remain available as a reference when the programme is recurring or the information helps future applicants. It must not be presented as a current application. Applicants should use the scholarship search for open records and wait for a new official call rather than submitting through an expired link.

6. Original guidance and attribution

Application guides are written to explain a process, comparison or checklist in original language. Provider-specific facts are linked to the relevant official source where practical. We do not copy full provider notices or present provider wording as our own analysis.

7. Corrections process

  1. Report: send the affected page, disputed field and supporting provider source.
  2. Check: compare the report with the current official page, document or authorised contact.
  3. Act: correct, clarify, expire, merge or unpublish the record as appropriate.
  4. Prevent: update parsing, review rules or internal guidance when the issue can affect similar records.

8. Independence and conflicts

Prime Scholarship Alerts is independent from listed universities and funders unless a relationship is explicitly disclosed. A commercial or featured placement must not change eligibility facts, deadline status or the provider’s authority over the application.
