The Harvard Global Health Institute and Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health are accepting applications for the 2027–28 LEAD Fellowship for Promoting Women in Global Health. The programme runs from September 2027 through August 2028. Fellows take part in a virtual leadership curriculum, individual coaching and faculty mentorship, an executive education course, workshops and speaking opportunities. A six-week in-person period in Cambridge, Massachusetts is expected in April 2028. Candidates should be working in a low- or middle-income country and plan to return there after the fellowship. Benefits
Harvard describes the fellowship as fully funded. It provides individual leadership coaching, faculty mentoring, an executive education course, workshops and networking. For the six-week U.S. residence, the award covers visa fees, housing, flights, course fees and a living stipend/per diem. Harvard does not state a fixed stipend amount on the current programme page.
Eligibility summary
Applicants of all genders and sectors may apply. They should currently work in a low- or middle-income country and intend to return there after the fellowship. Harvard requires a relevant master’s degree, full-time work in global health, at least 10 years of post-education professional experience, leadership experience and potential, employer support for six weeks of leave in April 2028, and eligibility for a U.S. J-1 visa. A full-time fellowship lasting four months or more within the preceding two years makes a candidate ineligible.
Requirements
Plan to take leave from your home institution during the six-week Harvard residence in April 2028. The application also asks for a home-institution commitment and a mentor or champion. Check the provider’s full instructions for all conditions before applying.
Documents required
CV or résumé; letter of intent (up to 1.5 pages); four short essays (up to 2,000 characters each) on career development, project plan, mentoring, and impact; institutional commitment letter; mentor commitment letter; and two additional references, including one from a current or recent professional engagement.
