The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) is inviting applications for its 2026 Pauline Bakibinga Memorial Scholarship. The award supports a master’s research project focused on digital health innovation. It is a one-time, non-repayable grant of USD 5,000–10,000 for research project expenses; tuition is excluded. The recipient may be enrolled at an African university, so the opportunity does not have a single university host country.
Applicants must be female East African residents enrolled at an African university, hold a bachelor’s degree, be admitted to a master’s programme in public health or a related field, and have an approved digital-health research proposal. Research ethics board approval or proof of submission is strongly preferred. APHRC encourages applicants affiliated with Mbarara University of Science and Technology or Busoga Health Forum, but these affiliations are not required.
There are two required application steps. First, complete the official preliminary survey linked below. Second, email one compiled PDF to pbscholarships@aphrc.org with the subject “Pauline Bakibinga Memorial Scholarship”. Include a statement of purpose of no more than 500 words, two one-page recommendations (one from an academic supervisor), academic transcripts and degree certificates, and official proof of admission to an eligible master’s programme. Both steps must be completed by 28 October 2026. The official call gives no closing hour.
