Professor Vistasp Karbhari's research group at The University of Texas at Arlington is recruiting PhD students and postdoctoral researchers for immediate openings focused on the long-term durability of polymers and composite materials used in civil infrastructure.
The research examines how moisture, temperature and environmental exposure affect material performance and service life. Current topics include moisture diffusion and transport in polymers and composites, relationships between moisture uptake and glass-transition temperature, and predictive durability and service-life models for infrastructure applications including rehabilitation.
Applicants with experience in polymers and composite materials are particularly encouraged to apply. Highly motivated candidates with strong backgrounds in related areas may also be considered.
