Applicants propose research aligned with a listed lab project in areas such as AI capability measurement, compute oversight, hardware governance, privacy-preserving auditing and AI system security. Successful students join a technical lab and gain policy or governance co-supervision. Apply to Oxford Engineering Science or Computer Science for October 2027 entry. The first-round application, including references, must be complete by noon UK time on 2 December 2026; applicants must also tell the programme manager by 3 December. A possible March 2027 later round depends on unfilled awards and should not be relied upon.
