University of Leicester PKN2 Severe Asthma PhD Studentship 2027
University of Leicester
The University of Leicester is recruiting a UK-home-eligible PhD student to study PKN2 and airway remodelling in severe asthma, starting January 2027. The three-year award covers UK tuition fees and a UKRI-rate stipend, with conference travel support. Applications close 5 November 2026.
Supervised by Dr Katy Roach, Professor Dominick Shaw and Professor Peter Bradding, this Respiratory Sciences project examines PKN2 in patient-derived lung samples and fibroblast remodelling. The student will use cell and ex vivo approaches, qPCR, immunohistochemistry, sequencing and proteomics to explore whether PKN2 may be a marker or target in severe asthma. Apply through the university’s official project page for January 2027 entry and specify RS Roach studentship in the funding section. The university gives 5 November 2026 as the closing date without a cutoff time; submit early.
