NorthWestBio DTP 2027 — International PhD Recruitment
University of Glasgow
The BBSRC-funded NorthWestBio partnership is accepting international candidates for October 2027 PhD projects across Glasgow, Lancaster, Queen’s Belfast and Strathclyde. Funded places cover tuition fees, a UKRI-rate stipend and laboratory expenses. The international round closes 30 November 2026; the home-fee round opens 2 November.
NorthWestBio supports doctoral research in animal biology, bioscience discovery, pathogens and plant health. Applicants may select up to three projects across partner universities. They must first submit the University of Glasgow admissions application, then complete the correct NorthWestBio Recruitment Information Form using the application number; without the second form, the application will not progress. The international candidate window is 1 October to 30 November 2026. The separate home-fee window runs 2 November 2026 to 4 January 2027. The FAQ gives 4 October 2027 as the programme start date.
