MRIWA 2027 PhD Scholarships in Western Australian minerals research
Minerals Research Institute of Western Australia
MRIWA offers five 2027 PhD awards for minerals research benefiting Western Australia, including two awards reserved for women. The full award pays an AUD 45,381 annual stipend plus AUD 6,483 annual research/travel allowance; holders of another scholarship may receive a top-up instead. Tuition, relocation, visa and overseas health cover are excluded, so this is partial funding. Deadline: 2 November 2026, 11:59 pm AWST.
The Minerals Research Institute of Western Australia supports PhD research in areas such as precision and low-impact mining, tailings and waste reuse, net-zero mining and green steel. One Odwyn Jones award, two general awards and two awards for women are available. Research can draw on technical, environmental, economic, social or policy disciplines, provided it advances Western Australian minerals priorities. The PhD must be undertaken at a Western Australian university and scholarship-funded research completed in the state.
