Assistant Professor Yousef Darestani is recruiting a Ph.D. student in the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Geospatial Engineering at Michigan Technological University for Spring or Fall 2027.

The research will focus on resilience analysis of coastal infrastructure systems. Dr Darestani's wider research programme examines risk, reliability and resilience assessment of infrastructure systems, climate- and weather-related hazards, machine-learning techniques, network analysis and wind engineering. Michigan Tech also confirms his research on climate change, sea-level rise and coastal community infrastructure.

How to apply for supervisor review: email a current CV and both MS and BS academic transcripts to ydaresta@mtu.edu. Review begins immediately.

This initial supervisor review is separate from Michigan Tech's formal Civil Engineering Ph.D. application. Candidates encouraged to proceed must submit the university application for their intended intake.

Formal admission timing: Michigan Tech currently recommends September 15 for Spring admission and January 15 for Fall admission with full financial consideration. Formal admission decisions are made on a rolling basis, but applicants should apply early enough for supervisor and university review.
