Kumoh National Institute of Technology Funded Ph.D. Positions in Energy Harvesting and Surface Devices
Kumoh National Institute of Technology
Assistant Professor Jihoon Chung is recruiting funded Ph.D. students for March 2027 admission to the Advanced Surface Devices Research Lab in South Korea, working on metal-organic frameworks, energy harvesting, gas sensing, adsorption and functional surface devices.
Assistant Professor Jihoon Chung is recruiting funded Ph.D. students to join the Advanced Surface Devices Research Lab (ASDR Lab) at Kumoh National Institute of Technology in Gumi, South Korea, beginning in March 2027.
The lab's research spans metal-organic frameworks for energy harvesting, gas sensing and adsorption; hybrid and functional materials for energy conversion; and emerging technologies including triboelectric and hydrovoltaic devices.
The university's official ASDR Lab page also highlights functional-surface design using micro- and nanomaterials, chemical-sensitive surfaces, energy-harvesting devices, wearable devices, chemical sensing, and device design and optimisation.
Funding note: the recruitment announcement states that the Ph.D. positions are funded and that the lab supports scholarship applications, including the Global Korea Scholarship. It does not state the stipend amount, tuition coverage, duration, insurance, travel support or whether funding combines lab support with an external scholarship. Applicants should request a written funding breakdown before accepting an offer.
How to apply: send a CV, a research-interest statement of no more than one page, and an academic transcript to jihoon.chung.05@gmail.com. The lab's official institutional contact is jihoon@kumoh.ac.kr. Shortlisted candidates must also complete the applicable university admission and, where relevant, external scholarship processes.
