Babraham Institute
Applications are open for four-year, fully funded BioSCaPe PhD studentships at the Babraham Institute near Cambridge, with October 2027 entry. Programme deadline: 8 December 2026.
The Bioscience South Cambridge doctoral training Partnership (BioSCaPe) offers doctoral research and industry training across the Babraham Institute, University of Cambridge, Wellcome Sanger Institute and MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology. Babraham advertises three 2027 projects: cytosolic DNA and ageing with Jon Houseley; stress susceptibility in stem-cell-derived neural cells with Teresa Rayon; and T-cell signalling in fibrotic feedback loops with Arianne Richard. Candidates should review the current projects and may identify a preferred and backup supervisor. This listing covers BioSCaPe-funded projects, not Babraham projects that require separate funding.

How to submit applications
Babraham PhD Opportunities page rechecked 19 October 2026: three named BioSCaPe projects for October 2027, application deadline 8 December 2026, interviews in January 2027. The separate BioSCaPe how-to-apply page inconsistently prints 8 December 2027 alongside January 2027 interviews; the active project advert gives the coherent 2026 deadline. Applicants should confirm with Babraham if uncertain. International awards are limited.
