Start looking for college scholarships 6 to 12 months before your intended intake if possible. Many competitive awards close before admission deadlines, and some require transcripts, recommendation letters, test results, passport copies, or admission steps that take time.
If the deadline is already close, do not panic. Prioritize scholarships where you already meet the eligibility rules and can prepare every required document without guessing.
90 days before the deadline
Read the official instructions and confirm eligibility. If the scholarship requires admission to a university first, start that process immediately. Request transcripts or certificates if your school takes time to issue them.
60 days before the deadline
Ask referees for recommendation letters. Share the scholarship details, your CV, and your achievements. Draft your personal statement or research proposal early enough to revise it.
30 days before the deadline
Review every required document. Check passport validity, certification requirements, English language requirements, and application portal instructions. Do not wait until the last week to discover that one document is missing.
7 days before the deadline
Upload documents and check that every file opens correctly. Re-read the form. Confirm that names, dates, email addresses, and phone numbers are correct. Save proof of submission.
After submitting
Keep copies of all documents. Watch your email, including spam or promotions folders. Some providers request additional information within a short period.
