Scuola Superiore Meridionale - Doctoral Programs – 42th cycle – Academic year 2026/2027 Call for Applications APPLICATION DEADLINE 27 AUGUST 2026 The Scuola Superiore Meridionale (SSM) hereby announces a call for applications for PhD scholarships for the academic year 2026-2027 in the Doctoral Programs in Ancient Mediterranean Archaeology and Cultures. Historical Research, Preservation, Cultural Heritage, Management, and Use The program will award 5 scholarships for a duration of four-years. Courses will begin on November 2, 2026. No fees or contributions are required to enroll; scholarships will be disbursed monthly and additional research funding made available each year. Applications will only be accepted if submitted through our website: here Applications received in any other form will not be considered. The SSM is not responsible for any online application not properly completed by candidates. The deadline for completing the online application is 27 August 2026 at 14:00 CET. The deadline for the submission of reference letters is 31 August 2026 at 17:00 CET. Candidates intending to apply for more than one PhD program can do so by submitting multiple applications – a separate one for each program they intend to apply. Funding and benefits

Funding eligibility: UK Students, EU Students, International Students. Funding amount: €19,000 or £16,526.12 (converted salary*) plus a 50% increase in the stipend for stays abroad of up to 12 months.
