The University of Amsterdam’s CyPhAI Lab is recruiting a four-year PhD candidate to develop controllable mechanism-informed world models and agents for robotics, embodied AI and biomedical dynamics.
The CyPhAI Lab at the University of Amsterdam is hiring a PhD candidate to build mechanism-informed world models that learn events, causes, latent actions and temporal relationships, and agents that plan and act within those models. Research will span robot learning, embodied agents and biomedical dynamics, with publication at leading AI venues.
Benefits
Four-year salaried doctoral employment at €3,059–€3,881 gross per month, plus 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% year-end allowance. Initial contract is 18 months and extends after satisfactory evaluation.
Eligibility summary
Applicants need an MSc completed before the start date in AI, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics or a closely related field. Professional English is required; Dutch is not required.
Requirements
Strong machine-learning and deep-learning foundations; Python and PyTorch skills; interest in world models, generative modelling, causal or representation learning, reinforcement or imitation learning, dynamical systems or robotics. Research output, simulators, causal inference or scientific-data experience are advantages.
