The Integrated Science Lab (IceLab), jointly with several departments at Umeå University, is offering three postdoctoral scholarships for the 2026 interdisciplinary programme. Applicants may apply to one or more of five selected multidisciplinary projects.

The programme supports research that combines theoretical, computational and empirical approaches. Selected postdoctoral fellows will be based in IceLab and supervised by multidisciplinary teams across Umeå University and collaborating departments.

Projects cover topics in cell wall integrity modelling, RNA polymerase allocation under stress, adaptive immunity and stress response, ecological interaction networks, and modelling stress, resilience and performance in elite female athletes.

Requirements

  • Completed doctoral degree, or foreign degree deemed equivalent to a doctoral degree, no later than the scholarship decision date.
  • Priority is given to candidates who completed the doctoral degree no later than three years before the decision date, unless special reasons apply.
  • Relevant experience or interest in areas such as data analytics, computational modelling, programming, mathematics, statistics, physics, molecular biology, microbiology, ecology or systems biology.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, motivation, critical thinking, creativity and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Good oral and written English.

  2. Curriculum vitae with publication list.
  3. Verified copy of doctoral degree certificate or documentation showing when the doctoral degree is expected.
  4. Certified copies of diplomas, completed courses and grades.
  5. Copy of doctoral thesis.
  6. Copies of relevant publications.
  7. Contact information for at least two references.
  8. Any other documents the applicant wishes to claim.
